DST*.tmp files under c:\winnt\temp
Hello, Ihave an Exchange Server. The temp folder under c:\WINNT\TEMP is building files (DST*.tmp) that are getting enormous and eventually running out the space on our c:\ partition. They get to about 110Mb and then starts a new one over and over again. Ican't delete them (message pops up that they are currently in use), but after a reboot, deleting is not a problem. Could somebody hep me?

Configure the smtp connector to send HELO instead of EHLO if it is not set and reboot the server and check about DST*.tmp file... Procedure: Start the Exchange System Manager. If Administrative Groups are turned on, expand Administrative Groups, and then expand First Administrative Group. Expand Connectors, right-click the SMTP connector that you use to connect to the remote domain, and then click Properties. Click the Advanced tab, click to select the Send HELO instead of EHLO check box, click Apply, and then click OK. Incase this doesn't work then revert back the configuration.

Hi, Exchange may create a temporary file that named "Dst*.tmp" in the temporary directory when remote domains do not support the BDAT command. BDAT is an extended SMTP command of Exchange 2003. It is the An alternative to the DATA command, which takes two arguments. Both commands are used by the sending host to initiate the transfer of message content. This is to say, BDAT and DATA are used to claim that we are now trying to send you the email content. Not every mail server accepts BDAT command. Some only supports DATA command. While communicating with these servers, the BDAT isnt accepted, and Exchange will generate this kind of dst*.tmp. So send HELO instead of EHLO will do the trick. If anything is unclear, please post here. Hope this helps, Elvis

I'm having the same issue with my exchange server 2003. The c:\winnt\temp folder continues to grow and I'm running out of room on my c: drive. Some of our files get up to 400MB. Did you empty the entire folder or how did you solve your problem? thanks!
